Selection Guide

Model 42 / 44 Cryogenic Temperature Controllers with
Ethernet Connectivity.

Designed for general purpose laboratory and industrial temperature control, The Model 42/44 supports virtually any cryogenic temperature sensor. Each input has extended-range operation to below 100mK.

The Model 42 has two sensor inputs and the Model 44 has four. Both controllers feature dual linear-output control loops.

Features of the Model 42 and 44 include:

  • Supports more cryogenic sensors than any other product in the industry. Two or four multi-purpose inputs support Silicon Diode, Platinum RTD, Rhodium-Iron and all Negative-temperature-Coefficient resistor sensors. Sensors from most manufacturers, including Cryo-con, are directly supported.
  • Widest temperature range: Operation from <100mK to over 1020K with appropriate sensor.
  • Advanced Constant-Voltage AC sensor excitation for Negative-Temperature-Coefficient (NTC) resistive sensors. Minimizes self heating at low temperature while increasing excitation current for high temperature.
  • Directly supports Helium 3 refrigerator control.
  • Proprietary cryocooler thermal signature subtraction. Best control stability in the industry.
  • Extremely low noise design. Operates effectively in the most demanding cryogenic environments. RFI tight all Aluminum chassis.
  • Dual autotuning control loops. Linear heater outputs of 50 and 10 Watts into a 50 Ohm load. For ultra-low temperature operation, the primary heater has a 50mW full-scale output range and the secondary loop has a 1.0W range.
  • CalGen™ feature allows the user to custom fit any Diode, NTC resistor or Platinum sensor calibration curve.
  • Standard remote interfaces are Ethernet, IEEE-488 and RS-232.

UpUp Model 24 Cryogenic Temperature Controller

Coming June 2008: The Model 24 cryogenic temperature controller is a four-channel cryogenic temperature designed for general purpose laboratory and industrial use. Each input is independent and capable of temperature measurement to 500mK with an appropriate temperature sensor. The Model 24 supports virtually any cryogenic temperature sensor produced by any manufacturer.

Features of the Model 24 include:

  • Four multipurpose input channels support Diode, Platinum RTD and most cryogenic NTC resistive temperature sensors. Two thermocouple inputs are optional.
  • Advanced Constant-Voltage AC sensor excitation: Operation from 500mK to over 1500K with appropriate sensor. Constant-Voltage, AC excitation of resistive sensors minimizes errors and extends their useful temperature range.
  • Proprietary cryocooler thermal signature subtraction.
  • Dual loop control. Loop #1: 50-Watt, threerange. Loop #2: 10-Watt.
  • Fail-safe cryostat protection features protect user equipment from damage.
  • CalGen™ feature allows the user to custom fit any Diode, NTC resistor or Platinum sensor calibration curve.
  • Remote interfaces include Ethernet, RS-232 and IEEE-488.2 (GPIB). Industry standard SCPI command language. National Instruments, Inc. LabVIEW™ drivers are available.

UpUpModel 62 Cryogenic Temperature Controller
