UpUp General Description

The Model 24 is a four-input, dual control loop cryogenic temperature controller designed for general purpose laboratory and industrial use.

Each input is independent and capable of temperature measurement to <500mK with an appropriate temperature sensor.

The Model 24 supports virtually any cryogenic temperature sensor produced by any manufacturer.

For superior operation in cryocooler based applications, the Model 24 implements a synchronous filter that eliminates the thermal noise signature of the cooler.

The dual-output control loop circuits features a primary 50W heater and an independent secondary heater of 10W.

Cryo-con’s Model 24 incorporates Ethernet connectivity which adds a new dimension of flexibility to industrial and laboratory applications.

UpUp Applications

Cryogen-Free systems:

  • Proprietary cryocooler thermal signature removal offers the best control stability in the industry for cryocooler based systems.
  • Four input channels. Cryogen-Free systems often require more than two.

General purpose laboratory:

  • Four inputs support virtually every cryogenic temperature sensor offered by every manufacturer. Two thermocouple inputs are optional.
  • Constant-Voltage excitation offers the widest possible temperature range for a given sensor.
  • Dual control loops. Digital Signal Processing techniques extend control loop resolution to provide the best control stability and widest range in the industry.
  • Ethernet connectivity for ease of remote control. Significant upgrade over IEEE-488 or RS-232 based systems. Native LabView support.
  • Robust cryostat protection controls.
  • Complete instrument configurations may be saved and instantly restored.

Superconducting Magnets:

  • Constant-voltage sensor excitation extends the high and low temperature range of sensors normally used in high magnetic fields.
  • Cryogen-Free magnet systems often require more than two inputs.

Data Acquisition / Computer control:

  • Ethernet interface in addition to IEEE-488 and RS-232. Ethernet allows the simple and inexpensive connection of many instruments to a Local Area Network. It is directly supported by all data acquisition software packages including LabView.
  • Robust implementation of the IEEE-488.2 SCPI command language facilitates system software development.
  • Remote command language is identical across the entire product line, therefore ensuring your system software will not become obsolete.
